Under the Hill

The tunnels below the hill were old, but well preserved. They led directly to a massive underground cavern where the heroes found the otherworldly tower from which they rescued Nathan Marshall. It was here that they fought the “beast” of the island and discovered in part its true nature, though really this just raised more questions about the ruins.

One interesting feature of the tunnel was a point where cascades of acidic fluid ran down each wall for ten feet, before draining towards the end of the tunnel. The cascades seemed harmless on the journey in, as long as they weren’t disturbed, but on the way out several of the heroes and their allies discovered they were an elaborate trap, spraying the acid in a fine mist when someone passed between the walls. Luckily, no one was seriously harmed by the trap, but it delayed the party long enough for the pursuing beast to catch up and attack them again.
